Defensive Dating

Maybe you’ve run into the expression “defensive dating.”

It means when you are early in a dating relationship to keep your options open.

Keep meeting new people, hanging out with your friends, enjoying all your usual activities.

It applies to job hunting, too.

Just because the job description looks like a perfect fit, or the interview goes really well, keep making connections.

Until they say “we want you, here’s an offer letter” you are a completely free agent.

Because a deal breaker in dating might not show up in the first date, and the employer might not throw red flags until your final interview.

The more options you see in front of you, the less desperate you will feel, and the better you will advocate for yourself.

I’m rooting for you. If you want to talk about how to increase your options creatively, reply to this email with “DEFENSIVE DRIVING” and let’s talk.
