What is the best way to learn a skill?

In Asia, there is a well-established learning method of copying masterpieces by hand, word for word.

In the U.S., I usually see the advice “Write a lot, and eventually you will get good at it.”

The master consultant Robert Fritz puts videos of consulting sessions on YouTube and encourages students to transcribe them and try to figure out why he asks the questions he does, when he does.

At the same time, in our own sessions he tells us “Start with nothing.”
