Proposal Gone Wrong

A non-profit came to a business owner friend of mine after being turned away from a couple of big names.

“What’s your hourly rate?”

She quoted a number.

They laughed, “Oh, that’s nothing.”

Two things were clear-

– They had money.

– They refused to give her a price range for the project.

So she sent them a proposal.

And they were shocked at the price.

There is probably no coming back from this, but…

Now they might be willing to share how much they were willing to pay.

And if she wanted, the business owner could scope what she would be willing to do for that price.

But starting with hourly prices caused this muddle to begin with.

Have you been in this situation? What did you do?
