A LinkedIn conversation pointed me at a youtube video of the 5 Laws of Stupidity

Stupidity in this model is defined as people acting in a way that harms others and does not benefit themselves. 

(Harming other for self benefit is called being a bandit in this model)

The author of the model suggests that stupid people are more dangerous than bandits, because they are not predictable.

They do not follow incentives the rest of the world sees, and this makes them unpredictable and dangerous.

It is an attractive idea, but I disagree. 

I think these people have an inaccurate world model.

If you can wrap your head around their world, their behavior is explainable.

That doesn’t mean that you can convince them their model is wrong.

It still makes a mess for the rest of us.
