You are not your work

A place that solopreneurs can get torqued up is in confusing who they are with their business.

In some ways that make sense, because if you stop working, your business ends. But in reality, it isn’t true.

When we think it is true it becomes hard to see what’s really going on. If people like our product or service it means they like us. Yay! If they are unhappy with our product or service then

  • they don’t like me
  • there must be something wrong with me
  • they must be bad or crazy

In reality, your business is something you have created. It’s a creation, is is not the creator. If you stopped your business, or did something different, would you still be you? Yes.
